Part 2: How To Re-enable the IE - Internet Option - Default Home Address Field(Win2k)

There is something very important and never been mentioned in my previous post on Title: How To Re-enable the IE - Internet Option - Default Home Address Field(Win2k).

I found that after restarting my PC, the IE will automatically launch the page with url www.my180.com. It’s very troblesome. Luckily, I’ve get the solution for such problem.

Before you do anything, please goto C:\, C:\WINNT\, C:\WINNT\system, or C:\WINNT\system32 to see whether is a file called win.hta(i.e. Syscheck). This is a Browser hijacker. The file is shown below. Of course, you can get some important info from this file. You can know how it rewrites your system’s registry, changes IE’s Favorites & etc. Anyway, please remember to delete this file from your pc.

Ok, we are now focus on how to quit the function that automatically launch the IE Page with url = www.my180.com. you should goto Start -> run -> (type in)regedit. Then, goto HKCU(i.e. HKEY_CURRENT_USER) \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Run \, and click on Run.

After that, you should see there is a name called IEXPLORE.EXE with value http://www.my180.com. What you need to do is just double click on IEXPLORE.EXE and make it’s value to be empty. This has been shown in the picture(Registry Editor) above.

That’s all for my information. I hope this will be useful to anyone who facing such problem. Agains, please be careful of www.my180.com and shouji001.com.
